Test Engineer


The Test Engineer will be responsible to ensure that the design of K2 products meets form, fit and functional requirements through an aggressive testing regiment.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform laboratory testing for K2's Research and Development Test Lab using well developed test procedures that accurately evaluate the product and document results.
  • Use instrumentation including strain gages, accelerometers, load cells, and thermocouples to measure and record actual loading conditions.
  • Develop test procedures for new products that simulate real world service conditions.
  • Work closely with lab technicians to minimize test turnaround time and maximize test throughput. Review test methods, test standards, and document test results.
  • Ability to execute ASTM and ISO Standard test procedures.
  • Use Finite Element Analysis to support the design and development of a variety of products including snowboards, snowboard bindings, skis, snowshoes, ski boots.
  • Work closely with product development engineers so that designs meet form, fit and function.
  • Using CAD, design and develop new test equipment to support product testing. Coordinate and work with Machine Shop for fixture design and fabrication.
  • Work with development teams early in the design cycle to bring innovative products with good technical detail to the market.

Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of Strengths of Materials and Material Sciences.
  • Experience and a solid understanding of Finite Element Analysis Methods.
  • Experience using Pro-Engineer or Solidworks CAD programs.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Able to handle fast paced, large scale test programs.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Work experience in a test lab or testing environment.
  • Experience with test machines and Equipment-MTS, Instron, Tinius Olsen.
  • Experience in setting up mechanical measurements using load cells, displacement transducers, strain gages and accelerometers.
  • Stress analysis experience.
  • Familiarity with LabView and DADisp software.
  • Enthusiastic participant in skiing, snowboarding, inline skating, or biking.
