Sr. Test Engineer


The Sr. Test Engineer will be responsible to ensure that the design of K2 products meets form, fit and functional requirements through an aggressive testing regiment. 

Responsibilities:
  • Work with development teams early in the design cycle to bring innovative products with good technical detail to the market.
  • Perform laboratory testing for K2’s Research and Development Test Lab using well developed test procedures that accurately evaluate the product.
  • Review test methods, test standards, and document test results.  Ability to execute ASTM Standard test procedures.
  • Develop new test procedures and standards for new and existing K2 materials/products.
  • Develop new tests and product evaluation processes to simulate real world service conditions.
  • Use instrumentation including strain gages, accelerometers, load cells, and thermocouples to measure and record real world conditions.  Develop new instrumentation approaches as needed.
  • Evaluate and characterize new and existing materials used in the manufacture of K2 Sports Products including skis, snowboards, snowboard bindings, snowboarding boots and snowshoes.
  • Develop new processes to advance the design and manufacturing of existing K2 products as well as new products.
  • Evaluate current manufacturing processes to establish process variation and address key issues.  Work closely with technicians to determine the necessary actions to address your findings.  
  • Provide testing and technical support at all K2 Sports manufacturing facilities.  Travel to factories 1-2 times per
  • year or as needed.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to Trade Shows, field tests, and manufacturing facilities in Asia.

Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Engineering or Material Science
  • Strong knowledge of Material Science, especially Composites and Polymers Science.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Able to handle fast paced, large scale test programs.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Work experience in a test lab or testing environment.
  • Experience with lay-up of carbon and glass fibers including wet lay-up.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of evaluating injection molded parts.
  • Experience with Test Machines and Equipment-MTS, Instron, Tinius Olsen.
  • Experience in setting up mechanical measurements using Load Cells, Displacement Transducers, Strain gages and Accelerometers.
  • Familiarity with LabView and DADisp software.
  • Enthusiastic participant in skiing, snowboarding, inline skating, or biking
